Glenelg Country School seeks to fill a 5th-grade lead teaching position for their Lower School. The Lower School aims to nurture the whole child and create a caring community. A successful candidate should be able to work with elementary-age children who represent a broad range of abilities and learning styles.
Responsibilities include teaching core math, language arts, and social studies academics. Higher-level math experience is desirable. Additional responsibilities include regular faculty meetings, the supervision of students during faculty duties, recess, and dismissal.
Qualifications include Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education or a closely related field; a master’s degree is desirable. A minimum of 3 years of teaching experience in a lower or elementary school setting is preferred. The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal skills, practical oral and communication skills, and experience working with cooperative and differentiated instruction. Experience with Reading and Writing Units of Study, Really Great Reading, and project-based learning would be expedient.
