Glenelg Country School is seeking to fill an Early Childhood Art teaching position for their Lower School. The Lower School aims to nurture the whole child and create a caring community. A successful candidate should be able to work with 2 year old through 1st grade students. Process orientated art style is important to the program. Background in Reggio-inspired and project-based learning is highly preferred. Experience teaching sculpture and clay work with a kiln is needed.
Responsibilities include a culminating art show, working with the art department schoolwide, team teaching with homeroom teachers, report card writing and ordering supplies. Additional responsibilities include regular faculty meetings, the supervision of students during faculty duties, recess, and dismissal.
Qualifications include Bachelor’s degree in Art Education or a closely related field; a master’s degree is desirable. A minimum of 3 years prior teaching experience in a Lower School or elementary school setting is preferred. The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal skills, practical oral and communication skills, and experience working with cooperative and differentiated instruction.
