Position Summary:
Glenelg Country School in Howard County, MD seeks an Middle School Social Studies Long-Term Substitute for an extended period in spring of the 2024-2025 school year. The teaching assignment includes teaching four sections of Middle School Social Studies, managing a small advisory group, and maintaining additional duties and responsibilities as a member of the grade-level teaching team. The successful candidate will bring to GCS a love of working with adolescents and the ability to differentiate instruction among a wide range of learners with appropriate use of educational technologies. Previous experience with middle- or high school- age students will be a significant advantage. GCS is a thriving community built on the holistic development of its students. Education and Experience:
A B.A. or B.S. is required. Experience working with Middle- or high school-age students is an advantage.
Salary Range:
$22.50 – $25.00 per hour
Essential Functions:
- Instruction in Social Studies
- Developing a sense of partnership among students and between students and the teacher
- Assessment and evaluation of student progress
- Implementation of teaching strategies, activities and approaches to learning
- Modeling good judgement and maturity
- Supervision of student behavior and coverage of colleagues’ classes as needed
