Position Summary:
The Primary School Early Childhood Art Teacher works with 2-year-old through grade 1 students to nurture the whole child and create a caring community.
Essential Functions:
- Develop and implement an early childhood curriculum for art education in 2-year-olds through grade 1.
- Host an art show annually.
- Work collaboratively with the art department schoolwide.
- Team teach with homeroom teachers.
- Write report cards.
- Also attend regular faculty meetings, supervise students during faculty duties, recess, and dismissal.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Art Education or closely related field
- At least 3 years prior teaching experience in an early childhood or lower school setting preferred.
- Background in Reggio-inspired and project-based learning is highly preferred.
- Experience working with cooperative and differentiated instruction.
Skills and Attributes:
- Demonstrated enthusiasm for Art education with the ability to inspire and motivate students.
- Strong organizational, time management, and planning skills for effective lesson delivery and curriculum implementation.
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills, with a high level of empathy and patience.
- Proficiency in differentiating instruction to meet the diverse needs of students.
