Primary School Lead Art Teacher

Position Summary:

The Primary School Early Childhood Art Teacher works with 2-year-old through grade 1 students to nurture the whole child and create a caring community.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Develop and implement an early childhood curriculum for art education in 2-year-olds through grade 1.
  • Host an art show annually.
  • Work collaboratively with the art department schoolwide.
  • Team teach with homeroom teachers.
  • Write report cards.
  • Also attend regular faculty meetings, supervise students during faculty duties, recess, and dismissal.

 

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Art Education or closely related field
  • At least 3 years prior teaching experience in an early childhood or lower school setting preferred.
  • Background in Reggio-inspired and project-based learning is highly preferred.
  • Experience working with cooperative and differentiated instruction.

 

 Skills and Attributes:

  • Demonstrated enthusiasm for Art education with the ability to inspire and motivate students.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and planning skills for effective lesson delivery and curriculum implementation.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills, with a high level of empathy and patience.
  • Proficiency in differentiating instruction to meet the diverse needs of students.

Compensation Range: $40,000 – $50,000. GCS offers a robust benefits package including health insurances, retirement plan, and generous leave and holidays.
