Glenelg Country School is a non-sectarian, co-educational, college preparatory school serving students from age 2 through grade 12 on 90-acre campus just minutes from Columbia, MD, with approximately 800 students.

Overview Of Essential Functions: 

  • Teaches 1-2 sections of Choir. 
  • Teaches 1 section of Music Theory.  
  • Organizes student performances. 
  • Coordinates with other Performing Arts faculty, both in the Upper School and across campus.  
  • Performs other duties within the Upper School, such as engaging with a student advisory group and supervising students in study hall periods.

The successful candidate will bring to GCS a love of working with adolescents and the ability to differentiate instruction among a wide range of learners with appropriate educational technologies. GCS is a thriving community built on the holistic development of its students. All full-time Upper School teachers contribute to clubs and enrichment activities and advise a group of ten or eleven students for their entire Upper School career.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to listen, physically direct, and speak. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus with screens, white boards, printed material, and ability to see children in detail. The employee must be able to lift at least thirty pounds. The employee is also regularly required to climb two flights of stairs.
