Upper School Visual Arts Teacher

Glenelg Country School in Ellicott City, MD seeks an Upper School Visual Arts teacher for the 2022-2023 school year. The teaching assignment will focus on pottery and 3-D methods, with the potential to broaden into drawing, painting, and related disciplines in future years. The successful candidate will possess a love of teens and an ability to channel their creative energy into concrete expression through inspiration, guidance, and instruction. Demonstrated competence in materials, techniques, and pedagogy are essential, as is the ability to collaborate with other members of the department in developing programs, workshops, and demonstrations of student work in dedicated spaces around the Upper School building. Previous teaching experience in pottery and 3-D methods will be a significant advantage. Highlights of the program include an annual two-day Raku workshop, the Maryland Department of the Environment recycled sculpture contest, the Advanced Placement 3-D Art class, and the annual senior showcase. A bachelor’s degree in a related field is required, a master’s degree is preferred.
