Pool Staff

Glenelg Country School is seeking various pool staff, including part-time lifeguards, swim lesson instructors/aides, and pool operators for the 2023 summer season. Glenelg Country School’s Summer Programs serve over 600 families each summer. The qualifications include a desire to work in a fun, fast-paced, child-friendly environment; excellent written and verbal communication skills; and the ability to work well as part of a team. Strong swimming skills and previous experience working in a pool environment are preferred. A current lifeguard certification and/or pool operator certification is not required if applying for those positions. Candidates must be at least 16 years old. Glenelg Country School is a co-educational independent school located in Howard County, Maryland has approximately 750 students two years old through twelfth grade.

 

Assistant Summer Camp Counselor

Glenelg Country School is seeking qualified candidates to work in our Summer in the Country program. Glenelg Country School, located in Ellicott City, Maryland, sits on an idyllic 90-acre campus and provides camps each summer for children entering pre-kindergarten through tenth grade. The camps focus on a variety of interests, including STEM, sports, arts, basketball, cooking, adventure, nature, music, sewing, writing, chess, and more. Glenelg’s Summer in the Country camps run June 17, 2024, through July 26, 2024, Monday – Friday. Counselors are expected to work 8:30 am to 4:00 pm, for an average of 35 hours per week, with the option of additional hours working Before or After Care. Camp is closed on June 19 and July 4, 2024, due to the holidays.

 

It is the expectation that assistant counselors will thoughtfully engage with children and assist lead counselors in supervising students and participating through care, interaction, activities, and games. Candidates must be available at least three weeks of the six-week session. Preference is given to those with experience in working with children. Candidates must be at least 16 years old.

 

Lead Summer Camp Counselor/Instructor

Glenelg Country School, located in Ellicott City, Maryland, sits on an idyllic 90-acre campus and provides camps each summer for children entering pre-kindergarten through tenth grade. The camps focus on a variety of interests, including STEM, sports, arts, robotics, cooking, adventure, nature, music, sewing, writing, chess, and more. Glenelg’s Summer in the Country camps run June 17, 2024, through July 26, 2024, Monday – Friday. Preference is given to those with experience in working with children or who are working toward training or a degree in the field of parks and recreation, childcare, child development, or education. Candidates must be at least 18 years old and have experience working with children.

 

Part-Time Extended Day Lead Counselor

Glenelg Country School is seeking qualified candidates to work in our Summer in the Country program. Glenelg Country School, located in Ellicott City, Maryland, sits on an idyllic 90-acre campus and provides camps each summer for children entering pre-kindergarten through tenth grade. The camps focus on a variety of interests, including STEM, sports, arts, robotics, cooking, adventure, nature, music, sewing, writing, chess, and more. Glenelg’s Summer in the Country camps run June 17, 2024, through July 26, 2024, Monday – Friday. Extended Day Counselors are expected to work either a 7:30-9am (Before Care) shift or a 3:00-6:00 pm (After Care) shift, for an average of 7.5 hours per week, with the option of additional hours working both Before and After Care. Camp is closed on June 19 and July 4, 2024, due to the holidays.

They are responsible for supervising campers, planning activities, and participating through care, interaction, activities, and games.
