The Middle School is seeking a part-time instructional middle school librarian who is passionate about middle grades literature and committed to collaborating with faculty and students to create a dynamic, research- and project-based learning environment focused on information literacy and 21st century foundational skills.
Essential Functions
- Management of the Moxley Library
- Oversee student book clubs and the Battle of the Books team
- Partner with teachers across the curriculum but especially in the Humanities and Academic Support
- Fulfill other duties and responsibilities consistent with full engagement in the life of an independent school
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in education or related field; library or literacy background preferred
- One to two years of experience as a librarian or in a literacy-related role
- Experience in working with middle-school aged students
Skills and Abilities
- Self-starter who communicates effectively with others and is comfortable teaching and supporting learning across disciplines
- Strong organizational skills
- A positive and compassionate approach
- Willingness to learn and implement new strategies are fundamental to this role.
- Proficient with Office365 and related Microsoft applications.
- Manages many tasks and projects simultaneously while adhering to deadlines.
Compensation Range: This position is scheduled for 20 hours per week. The pay range is $25,000 – $32,000. GCS offers a robust benefits package including health insurances, retirement plan, and generous leave and holidays.
