What is the Alumni Board

The Glenelg Country School Alumni Board is a generational collective with members from each graduating class. As a board member, you will share your leadership skills and expertise through sub-committees formed by our illustrious institution. Members will collaborate with GCS staff to connect alumni through professional programming, social events, student advancement, and marketing outreach. The board will have two seats for current GCS students who are active participants in the Student Government.

Commitment

All Alumni Board Members must commit up to 2 hours minimum per month for general body meetings and board meetings and up to 6 hours per month before a major event or program hosted by the Alumni Board.  Events are anticipated to be hosted quarterly during the school year.

Roles & Expectations for Board Members

The Alumni Board shall be comprised of the following positions:

  1. President

  2. Vice President

  3. Secretary

  4. Director of Special Events

  5. Director of Family Engagement

  6. Director of Community Engagement

  7. Director of Recruitment

Applying for the Board

Ideal candidates must demonstrate a strong commitment to serving current GCS students and their alumni and display a desire to collaborate with the GCS leadership on various initiatives to benefit all students and alumni.

Alumni members shall serve in their positions for one academic year. For applicants interested in serving on the Alumni Board, the following steps must be followed:

  • Must be an alumnus of Glenelg Country School who graduated in good standing

  • Must be 10 years removed from your graduation date

  • Complete the application in its entirety

  • Submit a copy of your resume with the application

  • Write a statement of Interest as to why you want to join the board and/or what you would like to help the board accomplish, goals, initiatives you would like to see, etc. No more than 100 words.
