RECENT CLASS NOTES
Jordan Brathwaite ’20
Jordan Brathwaite ’20 helped the Southern New Hampshire University basketball team win its third NE10 championship title in its sixth trip to the finals, allowing for the 22nd NCAA Championship appearance. The Penman would win the NCAA II East Region Championship and make its first Elite Eight appearance since 2014.
Priyanka Desai ’18
Priyanka Desai ’18, a J.D Candidate 2025 at the University of Florida-Frederic G. Levin College of Law, recently competed against 56 other law students in the Domenick L. Gabrielli Family Law Competition in Albany, NY, where she won First Place Oralist. Priyanka credits her success in the annual Barlow competitions for helping her feel confident using her voice in public speaking and being comfortable as a litigator.
Maria Peklo Villani ’01
Maria has re-established roots in Howard County after living in California for 5 years and then Hampden/Baltimore City for 2 years. When she’s not wrangling her two young kids, and keeping the circus/home life organized, she volunteers at a cat rescue in Mt. Airy and works full time as a residential real estate agent at The Wendy Slaughter Team in Columbia. Maria looks forward to reconnecting with old GCS friends and meeting new ones in the community.
Carly Schiller ’18
During her time playing field hockey at Drew University, Carly made it onto the record books for career defensive saves. Drew University keeps athletic records for the top 10 in all categories. She landed in 6th place for career defensive saves, totaling 13 saves. Carly also did this in three years, since she lost a season due to the pandemic. Carly is currently a Graduate Student at George Washington University, an Intern at the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, and a Field Hockey Coach.
Jen El-Haddad ’09
GCS graduate and owner of Jennifer Mary Photography, Jen El-Haddad ’09, was featured in VoyageBaltimore’s “Daily Inspiration”.
Matthew Woodford ’00
In November 2021, Dr. Matthew Woodford ’00 was listed by the Baltimore Magazine as one of the area’s top doctors. Dr. Woodford currently serves as a physician with Pulmonary Medicine at GBMC and as an intensivist on GBMC’s critical care team.
Faythe Cooper ’20
A round of applause for Faythe Cooper ’20, who has earned a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship (ETA) to Taiwan for the 2024-2025 academic year!
A biology major with an East Asian Studies minor, she will teach English in Taiwan and is looking forward to “exploring the different cultural festivals in Taiwan, like the hot spring festivals in Beitou” while honing her conversation skills and preparing for a future career in global health.
Madison Sesay ’20
Congratulations to Madison Sesay ’20 for receiving the Westhampton Distinguished Leadership Award (DLA) for her work with the Student-Athlete of Color Alliance, the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, and Team Impact. The DLA is presented annually to up to 15 Westhampton College seniors as a medal worn during commencement. The award recognizes individuals who contributed significantly to the college, the university, and the local community during their time at the University of Richmond. The winner’s leadership is consistent and evident through their classroom, student organization, sports team, or community service involvement.
Nakeyta Moore ’10
After graduating with a BA in Theatre, Nakeyta moved to Los Angeles, where she is now a senior art consultant and platforms manager with local art advisory Source Art and the founder of the Los Angeles-based art advisory and info hub, ARTLOUDLA. Nakeyta was recently featured in CanvasRebel Magazine about Los Angeles small business owners and creatives.

Sydney Silva Johnson ’18 graduated from the United States Military Academy West Point in the Spring of 2022. “For Many, Stand The Few”
Kellan Lane McAleer ’19
In May 2021, junior Kellan Mcaleer ’19 was part of an incredible accomplishment for the Salisbury University women’s lacrosse program. The Gulls capped off its second undefeated season in program history, 20-0, and won the 2021 Division III National Championship.
Bailey More ’13
On December 16, 2021, Bailey More ’13 tied the knot with his best friend Bailey Greseth in front friends, family, and fellow GCS alumni. The beautiful ceremony was held at St. Anne’s Episcopal Church and celebrated at Glen Ellen Farm.
Ano Mugwagwa ’02
In December 2021, Ano Mugwagwa ’03 made a career change, joining Amazon as corporate council. With Amazon, Ano will be responsible for corporate transactional matters, including third party contracts with partners, service providers, suppliers, engineers, launching services, infrastructure development, and other issues supporting Project Kuiper, Amazon’s launch of satellites into Lower-Earth Orbit to provide global internet and data transmission services.
Hannah Veater ’14
In May, Hannah Veater ’14 passed the U.S. Green Building Council Leadership in Energy and Environmental exam and is now an accredited LEED Green Associate. The accreditation demonstrates knowledge of green building practices and standards related to building design, construction, usage, and maintenance.
Stephanie Marszal ’22
Stephanie Marszal ’22 was named to the CAA all-rookie lacrosse team for her goalkeeper performance at the University of Delaware Blue Hens. Marszal shined in her inaugural season. The redshirt freshman made 13 appearances with 11 starts. She boasts 93 saves and holds the eighth best save percentage in the nation at .489.
Trudi Henderson ’16
Since graduating from GCS in 2016, Trudi Henderson has continued to follow her passion of singing. This past September, Trudi joined other amazing musicians and artists on NPT’s Tiny Desk Korea with V of BTS.

Kaelyn Gloyd ’19
Kaelyn graduated from Stevenson University summa cum laude this past spring, one year early. She received the “SU Pin” graduation award for my academic and extracurricular achievements. This fall, Kaelyn will be attending the University of Edinburgh in Scotland for a one year master’s program in social psychology!
Pamela Eisner Lesch ’15
Pamela Eisner ’15 married Patrick Lesch on October 10, 2021, at the Antrim 1844 in Taneytown, Maryland.
Renee Monico ’03
Renee Monico ’03 and Matthew Mullins got married at Harmony Gardens in DeLeon Springs, FL on November 5, 2021. The happy couple is also excited to be expecting their first child, a little girl, in August 2022.
Anna Gifty Opoku-Agyeman ’14
On January 13, Anna Gifty Opoku-Agyeman ’14 returned to GCS with her father to celebrate the release of her first published book, The Black Agenda. The book promotes a move towards social justice through a profound collection of essays featuring Black scholars and experts across economics, education, health, climate, and technology.
