The Upper School Academic Support position works closely with the Director of Academic Support to ensure the smooth functioning of the Upper School Academic Support Office. The office serves Upper School students (grades 9-12) who need help developing executive functioning skills, have documented learning differences, and have been placed on extended absence or concussion protocol plans. The Academic Support Office coordinates all standardized testing programs (PSAT, SAT, ACT, and AP exams) and includes the Testing Center for students taking tests with extended time or following an absence. A significant component of the role will involve the development of a productive relationship with the Director of Academic Support to ensure the effective delivery of services and to coordinate classroom presentations, professional development and general support of the Upper School academic program. Experience with teens in an academic setting, especially in the development of key academic skills, will be significant advantages.
Essential Functions
- Works directly with students needing academic support
- Communicates with families and faculty regarding students needing academic support
- Supervises the Testing Center and coordinates testing-related communication with students and faculty
- Helps coordinate peer tutors and notetakers
- Proctors SAT exams for students with College Board accommodations
Desired Education and Experience
A bachelor’s degree is required. One to two years of experience is preferred and experience working in a school setting and a background in special education or academic support is advantageous.

Compensation Range: $55,000 – $75,000. GCS offers a robust benefits package including health insurances, retirement plan, and generous leave and holidays.
