Dragon Dialogues
INSIDE THE BOX:
HOW CONSTRAINTS MAKE US BETTER
David Epstein
Wednesday, February 24, 2027 | 7 p.m.
Mulitz Theater
Free and open to the public!
We assume creativity needs freedom and more options. David Epstein, author of Range and the new Inside the Box, makes the opposite case. Hard deadlines, narrow budgets, and unexpected obstacles are not what stand between people and their best work. Very often they are what produces it, while total freedom turns out to be paralyzing. Epstein widens the lens from the child to how people actually make original things, in labs and studios and kitchens where the limits are real and physical. For parents, it reframes from a familiar instinct: clearing every obstacle from a child’s path may be clearing away the conditions that make them inventive.

About Dragon Dialogues
Dragon Dialogues is a speaker series launched by Glenelg Country School in 2014. The events, which are free and open to the public, are designed to bring together parents, friends, faculty, and the community to hear from experts who spark dialogue around topics that affect our children and their educational experience.
