Founders Society

Honoring leadership in giving.

The Founders Society recognizes and celebrates those whose generosity and leadership strengthen the very heart of Glenelg Country School.

Each year, individuals and families who contribute $1,000 or more to any area of the school join this community of leadership donors. Their commitment exemplifies the trust, partnership, and shared purpose that define GCS philanthropy.

Membership in the Founders Society includes:

  • Invitations to exclusive stewardship events, including the annual Founders Society Dinner

  • Special recognition in the Annual Report and other school publications

  • Opportunities for personal connection with school leadership and students whose experiences are shaped by philanthropy

The Founders Society is more than a recognition group—it is a reflection of Glenelg’s most trusted relationships. Through their gifts, Founders Society members help inspire others to give, model a culture of generosity, and ensure the continued vitality of our school.

“Leadership giving reflects belief in the mission, confidence in the school’s direction, and a desire to leave a lasting mark.”

Named in honor of our founders, Kingdon and Mary Gould, the society symbol is the mighty sycamore—a campus symbol of strength and continuity. The Goulds and other founding families turned the Stoic saying, “A society grows great when old men plant trees whose shade they know they will never sit in,” into action, and GCS today stands as a magnificent reminder of what can blossom when ideas turn into determination. The different levels of the society are named for some of the incredible tree specimens found on the GCS grounds.
