The Parents & Friends Association

Work directly with the GCS Admissions Office to welcome new and prospective families. Volunteers answer questions and offer assistance to incoming families and attend Discovery Days to mingle and offer insight. 

Support our Dragon artists and performers and assist with a variety of activities and programs, including running the box office and concessions and providing help behind-the-scenes before, during, and after shows and productions.

Work with the GCS Athletics Department to support our Dragon athletes and coaches in a variety of ways, from organizing and providing concessions at home games to assisting on Field Day and at the All-School Relay.

Held each September, the Clothing Exchange provides an opportunity for families to donate and purchase gently used uniforms and GCS clothing. Volunteers accept and sort donations and help run the  main Clothing Exchange shopping event.  

Support the P&FA’s efforts to reach out to the GCS community and increase awareness of our events and programs, including management and moderation on our Facebook group. 

Help decorate the GCS campus for the fall and winter holidays.  

GCS is an incredibly diverse community, and the P&FA supports all efforts to celebrate that diversity and ensure that every member of the Dragon family feels supported and included. Work with the GCS faculty Diversity Committee to organize events and programs to further our DEI efforts. 

Further the P&FA’s efforts to strengthen our GCS community through a variety of events and programs. Specific events may have separate planning committees, but the Events and Programs committee will help devise an overall strategy and calendar for the P&FA and GCS community. Events and programs may include all-school efforts like the Auction, Homecoming, and Spirit Dining restaurant nights; divisional events like Family Bingo, Trivia Night, and the Wine Social; and fundraising efforts like Charleston Wrap.

Show our amazing GCS teachers and staff how much they are appreciated by planning Teacher Appreciation Week activities in May, and organizing a variety of other events and programs throughout the school year. 

Held each year in September, Family Day is one of GCS’s treasured traditions. All GCS families are invited to an afternoon of food, fun, and festivity on the Manor House hill to celebrate the beginning of a new school year. Many volunteers are needed to help plan and execute this very special day. 

Help recruit volunteers and match their interests with available opportunities. Organize recognition and appreciation activities for volunteers.
