Shark Fashion Show Makes Waves in the Lower School
Danielle Peterson
Second grade students in Deborah Wooleyhand’s class recently focused on non-fiction reading and writing. With sharks as a topic, students read a variety of non-fiction books. Upon finishing the preliminary read, each student selected a shark to further research. Working in small, socially distant groups, they researched, took notes, and wrote reports on specific sharks. The work generated a lot of enthusiasm for writing and reading non-fiction, and culminated with a Shark Fashion Show with students modeling their research on homemade paper bag jackets and shark heads.
