A GCS Thanksgiving Day Parade

GCS Staff

Lower School students work on their Thanksgiving Day parade floats.

As students prepared for the Thanksgiving holiday, students used the Tinker Lab to learn about the history of the Thanksgiving Parade by reading the book “Balloons over Broadway: The True Story of the Puppeteer of Macy’s Parade,” by Melissa Sweet. Afterward, students researched how balloons and floats are created and prepared. Finally, Little Dragons students built a marching band. At the same time, Pre-K and Kindergarten classes developed a city with popsicle stick people and cardboard buildings. First-grade students created the parade using robots to pull their decorated balloons and filmed the result.
