Lights, Camera, STEAM!
GCS Staff
Lights, camera, STEAM! Science, technology, engineering, arts, and math (STEAM) inspire students worldwide to dream big and express their creativity. In the CENTERSTAGESM presented by Raytheon Technologies, FIRST® Tech Challenge teams will raise the curtain on the power of design, creativity, and precision to create all new experiences on September 9.
Glenelg Country School (GCS) has the honor of hosting an official kickoff event in the Upper School that will bring participants in the 2023–2024 arts-inspired robotics season to the campus. The game’s grand reveal provides an opportunity to bring FIRST® Tech Challenge teams from all Maryland and Virginia together to think like engineers.
The excitement of the kickoff is not exclusive to robotics teams, mentors, and volunteers. All families interested in seeing STEAM skills are welcome to attend. A STEAM gallery, where families explore a variety of hands-on activities to inspire a passion for learning, provides an interactive experience for visitors.
The gallery is a space where families can explore a 25 by 25-foot map of the surface of Mars, participate in a Limitless Space Institute Solar Sail activity, and learn about engineering challenges in our area. A showcase of student engineering projects from the Upper School’s Innovation Lab will highlight the range of skills students acquire at GCS. The STEAM Gallery will conclude its activities when the reveal begins around 12 pm.
