Third-Grade Students Visit Observatory

Before Spring Break, on a bright sunny afternoon, third-grade students visited the Gould Observatory on campus. Glenelg Country School’s observatory houses a research-grade EDF refractor telescope generously donated to the school in honor of our founders. Krystal Rolon, Upper School astronomy teacher, and Upper School student Michael Hersey ’24 taught students how to safely view the sun through the telescope equipped with a special filter. The students were thrilled to receive an introduction to the telescope and see sunspots on the sun.
