Last month, GCS student-athletes from the boys and girls soccer teams spent each Friday evening supporting the Freedom Optimist Soccer’s Shooting Stars clinic. Shooting Stars is a program that offers children ages 5-18 with physical, intellectual, or emotional disabilities an opportunity to enjoy the game of soccer in a safe and supportive community environment. GCS students mentored and assisted Shooting Stars athletes as they learned the sport, all while having fun and making new friends. “It was great seeing our players and coaches supporting this great organization in a fun and successful way,” says Brad Sellar, varsity boys soccer coach. Sebastian M. ’24, was especially dedicated to the community service opportunity, participating in every session in August.
