Dragons Give Green 2022: Dragons Choose!
Make our wishlist come true.
Each year, Glens and Elgs compete in the annual tradition of the All-School Relay, and we all come together as Dragons to Give Green in support of our school. This year, you can choose how you want to Give Green!
GCS faculty, administrators, staff, and students have identified a variety of projects representing all divisions and areas of the school. These are all items and programs that can have a significant impact for our community; they have been identified as priorities for the school to fund in years to come as the school operating budget permits. Your support of these efforts today will allow them to happen NOW, or in the very immediate future. That is giving in action!
Check out the available projects below. Click the “Choose This Project” button for more information; you will be taken to a page with details about each project and how to make your gift.
On Wednesday, May 25, follow our GCS Facebook feed for livestreaming of Field Day events and other surprises. And don’t miss the All-School Relay livestreamed at 2:45 p.m. on the GCS YouTube page.
A NOTE TO OUR DONORS
For this campaign, we are using a crowdfunding platform, JustGiving, that is already part of our online giving system. There are no additional operating costs to GCS or per-gift charges when making a gift. Every dollar is going directly to the project(s) you select. You also have the option to help us crowdfund and create your own fundraising page. Thank you for your support, and happy choosing, Dragons!
As a class project, Mr. Shovlin’s Upper School Civil Engineering and Architecture students are designing and constructing picnic tables for Lower School students to use.
Make sure our Middle and Upper School musicians can keep the beat with new timpani drums for our rehearsal rooms.
Our Lower School musicians, including our Orff Ensemble, love playing glockenspiels to learn basic music theory and practice rhythm. Help ensure we have enough instruments for all our students to make beautiful music!
Our beautiful Upper School visual arts classrooms are light-filled, but blackout shades for the studio windows will allow our Dragon artists and Visual Arts faculty more flexibility for their projects and instructional needs.
Our Mulitz Theater needs a dedicated scissor lift just for use by the dedicated backstage scene builders, crew, and technicians who make our GCS productions so fantastic.
Projectors are a vital part of a 21st century connected classroom, and you can help ensure our Upper School faculty have the most up-to-date equipment.
Help our Dragon student athletes stay in top condition with an upgraded Electrical Stimulation and Ultrasound Machine for our Athletics Training Room.
A new LineLazer paint sprayer will help our dedicated Operations team member Oscar Valverde keep our beautiful athletic fields neatly lined and looking perfect for our Dragon athletes and their competitors.
Help senior William M. and Community Service club members lay the groundwork for a new recycling and composting program for the Upper School. New clearly labeled trash and recycling receptacles will be purchased throughout the Upper School Gould Building.
Each year, the Association of Independent Maryland Schools hosts the Baltimore Student Diversity Leadership Conference (BSDLC), a diversity and equity leadership training event that is planned by and led by area high school students. Help GCS send a delegation of at least 10 Upper School students and 2 faculty to the 2022 edition of this valuable teaching and learning opportunity.
Beautify the entrance to our Lower School and Manor House with new landscaping and pavers.
Support the professional development of our Primary School teachers with an in-person onsite training in using and maximizing the potential of new Promethean smart boards that will be installed in all Primary classrooms this summer.
Promethean Boards are the newest generation of smartboard technology, with endless applications for the elementary classroom.
The Upper School Digital Media program will expand to four courses next school year. Microphones, studio lighting, green screens, sound absorption panels, and SD cards, are essential items for our students.
Our Middle Schoolers love to spend time outdoors on our beautiful campus. Six Adirondack chairs will provide opportunities for fun and socializing.
